International Cricket Broadcaster and Sports Journalist Sean Devers is scheduled to commence radiation treatment for level two cancer next week.
The Guyanese Broadcaster, who worked for several radio stations in the Caribbean and the BBC World Service, completed a successful surgery to remove a brain tumor on October 2 at the St. Clair Medical Centre in Trinidad.
According to a press release, the radiation therapy is expected to last for seven weeks and will be done at the Brian Lara Cancer Centre in Port-of-Spain, after which an MRI report has to be submitted on January 3 to Dr. Robert Ramcharan who performed the surgery.
“God is a good God and I thank him for putting the right people in my life at this time. Dr. Omar Khan and Dr. Nigel Camacho are among the many people in Trinidad who have offered assistance while Brian Lara called from overseas on Saturday night when he heard the news to offer a reduction of the cost at the centre which carries his name,” Devers said.
The cost for the seven-week radiation is US$25,000.00 and former West Indies and T & T batsman Suruj Ragoonath and Radio Commentator and TV host Fazeer Mohamed have offered support to Devers.
Former NCN Sportscaster Alana Johnson and her husband Rawle and former Berbice cricketer Luke Latiff and his wife Avian are assisting Devers with accommodation during his stay in Trinidad while Guyanese lawn tennis coach William Skeete is among those offering transportation, the release stated.
