BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, CMC-A spirited half century from Kyle Pope could not stop the West Indies from snatching first innings lead against Sagicor High Performance centre on the second day yesterday of their three day practice match at the three Ws oval in Bridgetown.
HPC were bowled out for 181 runs in their first innings, 39 runs short of the Windies first innings total of 220 for 9 declared.
Windies, in their second innings, reached 39 without loss when bad light stopped play after 10 overs and with Kieron Powell at the crease on 25.
Pope batted responsibly to reach a top score of 55 as HPC batsmen struggled against the spin duo of Veerasammy Permaul and Sunil Narine who bagged seven wickets between them.
Only Andre Fletcher provided any major support with a knock of 39.
Permaul finished with leading figures of four for 37 while Narine grabbed three for 48 and Fidel Edwards two for 23.
West Indies lead HPC by 78 runs as the match enters its final day today.
