Dear Editor,
What is wrong with Stabroek News and Kaieteur News? They say they are tired of the PPP/C‘s 20 years in government. They want to live under PNCR/APNU rule. They say time heals memories. It is more a case of over time we forget things. The Kaieteur News people and Stabroek News people just do not remember how bad things were under the PNC. Some of them may have been too young to remember. So they have this romantic idea of how things were under the PNC. I support the PPP/C. I make no apology for that.
They took a totally bankrupt economy with a totally dilapidated infrastructure, a totally demoralised population, an extremely indebted country, industries that were destroyed and a decimated business community and made it into a country where there is hope, opportunity and wealth creation. They did this all under attack by an opposition bent on gaining power at all costs.
Whereas the PNC took a very prosperous country and made it one of the poorest countries in the Western Hemisphere and the laughing stock of the Caribbean. There is still a lot more to do. But you are not going to get this done by conning the population into believing that Guyana would be better off under the rule of APNU or the AFC.
Look Stabroek News and Kaieteur News: You could say that the government is not giving Georgetown and Linden money to prevent them progressing. Or, you could say that the PNC people are running Georgetown and Linden like they used to run Guyana and we know where Guyana ended up. Let me think, which is the real scenario?
I do hope that Stabroek News and Kaieteur News get the chance to live under their heroes. Is my message getting through to Stabroek News and Kaieteur News? No, I do not think so! It is like romancing the stone.
Yours faithfully,
Sean McLean
