Nikki Cosby, Errol Fabian and Learie Joseph from Trinidad and Tobago; Mac Fingal from Barbados; Fat Man George from Grenada; Birdman from Antigua and Guyana’s Chow Pow, Henry Rodney, Kwasi and Odessa are set to provide endless laughs as Guyana hosts Caribbean comedians tomorrow evening at the Thirst Park Ground from 7.
According to a press release, the event will be hosted by the legend of storytelling and comedy Paul Keens Douglas from Trinidad. It is intended that this festival will become an annual calendar event that will take place every October moving forward, the release said.
As an incentive, there will also be a special comedy clash at intermission that will involve members of the audience who think they have what it takes to make the crowd laugh. The winner will walk away with $20,000 and other special prizes.
The release said one of the main objectives of the festival is to create a different form of entertainment, one that the entire family can enjoy. It is intended to reach people from every walk of life.
The promoters also hope to inspire and attract new talent to this cultural art form which seems to be dying slowly throughout the Caribbean. The aim, the release said, is to show young and upcoming comedians that there can be a very lucrative career from being a professional comedian once they continue to work hard at their craft.
The objective is also to showcase the diversity and uniqueness of our Caribbean culture on one big stage. To enjoy the different lingo, the different accents and of course the belly full of laughter that makes us all Caribbean people.
The show is being presented by Link up Media and Vision Sound Promotion along with sponsorship partners.
Tickets cost $2,500 and $5,000 for VIP and are available at Giftland Office Max.
