(Jamaica Observer) Sean Paul walked away with the award for Best Reggae Act Saturday at the 17th staging of the Music of Black Origin (MOBO) Awards.
The deejay beat Popcaan, Konshens, Damian Marley, and Vegas to cop the award. It was his second MOBO for Best Reggae Act, the first coming in 2009.
Italian singer Albarosie won the award last year, while Gyptian won the category in 2010.
Sean Paul was however unable to accept the award show as he was doing shows in India to promote his Tomohawk Technique album.
The MOBOs were first held in 1996 as recognition for music made by persons of colour. Since its inception it has honoured artistes in various genres such as pop, jazz, rhythm and Blues, reggae, and gospel.
