As part of its 20th anniversary celebrations Roraima Airways is currently offering aerial tours of Georgetown for the meagre cost of $3,000.
After take-off from Ogle International Airport, the tour heads to and follows the seawall all the way up to the mouth of the Demerara River before turning left and heading all the way to the Demerara Harbour Bridge. Once here the plane turns once more and heads towards the Princess Hotel before heading back to the Ogle Airport, effectively ending the tour. All through the tour the plane maintains a safe altitude of about 1,500 feet.
Tony McLean, a tours agent with the company revealed that since the commencement of this promotion on September 30, over 150 people have capitalised on the opportunity. He further stated that many more have expressed interest in taking the tours.
McLean shared that each aerial tour takes approximately 15 minutes and requires a minimum and maximum of 9 persons, stating that this may be one large group, or several smaller groups. He stated that because of the nature of the tours if a group of 3 persons call to reserve a tour they would have to wait until another 6 persons express interest. Also, tours would have to be booked at least three days to one week in advance.
