Fresh from their victory in the GT&T Indoor tournament, Georgetown Cricket Club men’s hockey team transferred their success to outdoor with a convincing 6-2 victory over Old Fort in the latest match of the Farfan and Mendes first division league.
In second round action Sunday at GCC ground, the home side put on a clinical performance against Old Fort and held a 3-0 lead by the end of the first half.
Kevin Spencer netted two goals while Captain Devin Hooper netted the other goal in the first half. Leonard George, Rafeal De Groot and Orland Semple scored the other three goals in the second half for the Bourda side.
Old Fort got their goals off Aderemi Simon who converted a penalty stroke in the 55th and Michael Bourne who scored almost on the final whistle to bring some respectability to Old Fort’s score line.
The competition continues on Sunday with Hikers squaring off with Old Fort who will be looking to redeem themselves against the inform Hikers.
The match will be played at GCC ground starting at 16:00 hours.
Old Fort will have in their lineup Chris Low Keon, Aderemi Simon, Dwight Sullivan, John Abrams, David Williams (goalkeeper), Jason De Santos and Michael Bourne.
Hikers will be depending heavily on Devin Munroe, Roger Fernandes, Randy Hope, Azad De Abreu and Shane Samuels.
GCC are the current leaders in the Farfan and Mendes league now in its second round.
