Minister of Sport Dr Frank Anthony explained that given the magnitude of the work, the construction is phased and divided into lots. Yesterday’s bids were for one section of the stands, which when completed should be able to seat an estimated 8,000 persons. Over $500M has already been awarded in contracts for the project.
The tenders to construct the northern stands of the facility were opened at the National Procurement and Tender Administration Board’s office at Main and Urquhart streets and saw seven companies submitting bids.
They were: Dookie Construction ($173,222,700), Eagle Transportation and General Construction ($176,185,000), H. Nauth and Sons ($203,495,684), B.K International ($166,033,900), Colin Talbot Constructing Services ($168,584,315), Andrew Howard ($169,882,280) and R. Bassoo and Sons Construction Company ($173,855,880). The engineer’s estimate for the project was $176,738,795.
Meanwhile, for an inventory of commodities sought by the National Communica-tions Network (NCN), bids were received from Metro Office and Stationery Supplies (Lot 2, $3,126,329.20 and Lot 3, $13,624,908); Giftland OfficeMax (Lot 1, $13,364,480, Lot 2, $2,546,392 and Lot 3, $30,217,200); Regal Stationery and Computer Center (Lot1, $2,165,784, Lot 2, $4,470,038 and Lot 3, $10, 637,500); Robin. S. Dyal and Company (Lot 1, $3,225,873, Lot 2, $2,351,460 and Lot 3, $11,709,920); Meditron Scientific Sales (Lot 1, $3,377,712, Lot 2, $3,798,298 and Lot 3, $10,388,800); Andrew’s Enterprise (Lot 2, $2,801,352 and Lot 3, $12,749,400) and CCS Guyana Ltd ($Lot 1, $2,021,201, Lot 2, $2,482,148 and Lot 3, $13,444,010).
The Guyana Water Incorporated (GWI) sought bids for the supply and construction of a potable water well at Providence, East Bank Demerara.
However, BK International was the lone bidder and placed a bid pegged at $174,084,482. The engineer’s estimate was given at $107,443,715.
For the Ministry of Agriculture’s ASDU rehabilitation of drainage and irrigation systems phase 2, bids were received from Dookie Construction ($86,559,957), Roopan Ramotar Invest-ments ($90,718,485), Colin Talbot Contracting Services ($89,460,511), Alvin Chowritmootoo) $85,760,724) and P.D Contracting ($84,241,183).
