Head of the Presidential Secretariat Dr. Roger Luncheon yesterday announced the appointment of former Minister of Local Government and former Ambassador to Brazil, Kellawan Lall as the Coordinator of Public Information in the Office of the President.
A release from GINA said that Lall’s Terms of Reference includes “specific terms as well as those other responsibilities entrusted by the President and Cabinet”.
Luncheon said the thrust of Lall’s engagement would be “the information needs of the Administration, both from supporting the improvement policy where that is concerned”.
He will also address access to information especially in the context of legislation.
“We have to deal with the likelihood that the lives of the State media, GINA, NCN, would continue to be probed, would continue to be negatively affected by the Parliamentary Opposi-tion…formulating improvement and amending policies and then of course, acting on behalf of the Administration with an engagement with State media, to further the interest of the Administration in bringing to the public’s attention, matters that this Administration considers important and part and parcel of our obligation to keep the Guyanese people informed”, Luncheon stated.
Lall served as Political Advisor to former President Bharrat Jagdeo and the late President Cheddi Jagan.
