The police force yesterday issued a wanted bulletin for city businessman Paul Ramsuchit Daby for questioning in relation to murder.
Although police did not identify the murder, Stabroek News was reliably informed that Daby is being sought for questioning about the recent high-profile slaying of Ricardo Rodrigues and his bodyguard Marlon Osborne.
According to the bulletin Daby is also known as ‘Uncle Paul,’ and ‘Big Man,’ and his last known address was given as Lot 127 D’Aguiar Park, Houston.
Public Relations Officer Whitney Bacchus, contacted for details about the bulletins, said that he would return a call after he checks but up to press time this was not done.
Stabroek News also made numerous attempts to reach Crime Chief Seelall Persaud and Police Commissioner (ag) Leroy Brumell. A source, however, told this newspaper that investigators are seeking to question Daby about the murder of both Rodrigues and Osborne, which police believe are related.
Rodrigues was shot dead by gunmen on October 15 in an attack at a restaurant at the Guyana Motor Racing and Sport Club.
Three other persons were hit during the shooting, including Canadian national Jean Le Blanc, who police said later succumbed after complications from the gunshot wound he sustained.
Rodrigues was a close associate of convicted drug kingpin Roger Khan.
Meanwhile, Rodrigues’ bodyguard Osborne, 33, also known as “Country,” was riddled with bullets moments after he exited the yard of a friend he had visited in Queenstown last Wednesday. Prior to his death, Osborne was questioned by police in connection with Rodrigues’ murder.
There are two Dabys with the same name, father and son. Sources informed this newspaper that it was the elder Daby that is being sought.
An attorney, who is close to the Dabys, has expressed surprise that the bulletin was issued without any real attempt by the police to locate the man.
According to the attorney, the junior Daby was arrested last week in connection with the same investigation and subsequently released. The attorney said that at the time, the elder Daby was out of the country and the police had indicated to him that they had no desire to question him.
Police said that anyone with information that may lead to the arrest of Daby is asked to contact them on telephone numbers 225-6411, 225-2700, 226-1326, 226-2870, 225-6941, or 911 or the nearest police station.
