Dear Editor,
Please refer to the letter ‘No garbage collection in Middle Road, La Penitence‘ in your issue of Wednesday, November 7, 2012. Our trucks have been collecting garbage from Middle Road, La Penitence and other contiguous areas. As recently as last Thursday, November 1, 2012, we collected garbage from that section. Therefore, we are not quite sure what Mr E Whyte is talking about. There could be a problem with the timing of putting out the receptacles and our collection of garbage from that resident.
However, we would be grateful if Mr Whyte could call telephone number 225-2218 or come in to the Public Relations Department any time between 8:00hrs to 16:00hrs, Monday to Friday. We would be happy to address this problem.
Notwithstanding our efforts to keep the city clean and healthy, we remain very worried by the apparent lack of environmental sensitivity on the part of some to the needs of the environment. In the La Penitence area, some residents continue to dump their garbage on the parapets and roadside. It is unacceptable, unfair and should not be tolerated by anyone. Littering continues to be the blight on the city. It is affecting our image, reputation and public health. We need to make a difference in our city by showing more respect and care for the environment.
Yours faithfully
Royston King
