One week after the gruelling Guyana Open two-day Golf tournament the local players will be back in action on Saturday in the third Annual Players Championships sponsored by Citizens Bank Guyana Inc., at the Lusignan Golf Course.
Most of the players who participated in the Guyana Open will be in action in the tournament which forms part of Citizen’s Bank 18th anniversary celebrations.
The bank’s chairman, Clifford Reis, an ardent golfer, will be in action in what is expected to be a highly competitive tournament.
It is unclear whether last year’s winner Andre Cummings will be returning to defend his title or whether the inaugural winner Mohanlall Dinnauth will be in action.
Avinash Persaaud though, the 2012 Guyana Open men’s winner and Christine Sukhram the ladies champion are expected to participate.
Also listed to participate are Maurice Solomon, Patrick Prashad, William Walker, Kassim Khan, Kishan Bacchus, Colin Ming, Rawle Moore, Munaff Arjune, Muntaz Haniff, Carlos Adams, Troy Cadogan, Avinda Kishore, Robert Hanoman, Mike Guyadin, Roy Cummings, John Tracey, Mark Lashley, Gavin Todd, Brian Hackett, Joaan Deo, Chatterpaul Deo, B. Harry, Dave Mohamed, Mike Mangal and Brian Glasford.
Prizes will be awarded to the top three players with the best net scores as well as the Nearest to the Pin. There will also be a prize for the best female player.
Citizen’s Bank Managing Director, Eton Chester and other senior executives of the bank are expected to be on hand to present the prizes to the outstanding players.
Tee off is at 12:30 hours.
