-Pegasus Open men’s singles
Veteran tennis player Rudy Grant defeated Albert Madramootoo Monday evening in a men’s singles encounter as the Guyana Tennis Association (GTA)Pegasus Open continued at the Le Meridien Pegasus Hotel courts.
Grant won 6-2, 7-6 (7-3 on the tiebreak) and joins Ryan Panday, Leyland Leacock and Nicholas Glasgow in the second round.
Panday and Leacock won in last Friday’s opening round while Glasgow defeated Judah Stephney 6-2 6-2 on Sunday.
Leacock on Monday teamed up with Krystal Sukra to score an upset win over Sandeep Chand and Thi Fernandes 7 – 5, 6 – 4.
In the men’s doubles, Benedict Sukra and Gavin Lewis triumphed 6 – 0, 6 – 3 over Andrew Sawh and Andrew Hook.
