The Alliance For Change (AFC) says its councillor on the Region Six Regional Democratic Council (RDC) has recused himself from the Works Committee to facilitate an investigation into allegations of fraud.
In a press release, the AFC said it had been informed that its councillor was accused of signing off on completed work that had not been done and demanding a bribe from a contractor.
It added that the party leadership is still in the process of gathering more detailed information about the accusations.
The AFC, however, said it supports a full investigation into the matter and it has demanded that the councillor cooperate with the RDC and the inquiry.
The party says it will not condone corrupt practices by any of its councillors and it expects to be provided with the full details of the accusations, including whether anyone else had signed off on the incomplete works, the relationship between the contractor and other members of the RDC and any other pertinent information.
