Stevedore Housing Scheme resident Brian Westman was yesterday fined $15,000 after he admitted to cursing his aunt.
Westman, 24, of 3415 Stevedore Housing Scheme pleaded guilty to a charge of verbally abusing his aunt, Irene Blackman, when he appeared before Magistrate Sueanna Lovell at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.
Westman committed the offence on November 5, for which he was arrested and charged.
When Blackman was given the opportunity to address the court, she said that Westman “come into the home and start cuss for no reason and it’s not the first time he doing it.”
Attorney Paul Fung-a-Fat, who represented Westman, stated that he and his aunt had an argument. In addition, he said that it was a family matter and it should be settled peaceably.
Westman was fined $15,000 with an alternative of serving three weeks imprisonment. He was also placed on a one-year bond to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.
