(Trinidad Express) A 32-year-old Caroni woman who attempted to avoid being arrested for narcotics possession died yesterday after she swallowed an unknown quantity of cocaine while the police were raiding her house.
Police said between 2.30 and 3 p.m. a team of Central Division Task Force officers went to a house at Ibis Gardens to execute a warrant to search for drugs and ammunition.
The police said the house was heavily burglar proofed and while attempting to break through the burglar proofing they heard the toilet being flushed several times.
Officers said they finally managed to gain entrance into the house where they found the woman who became ill and collapsed.
One of the officers attempted to revive her and she was taken to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex in Mt Hope where she died.
A post mortem into how she died is expected to be done today at the Forensic Science Centre, St James.
