Overseas-based Guyanese/ proprietor of H2OBoy Bernard Couchman is staging an under-14 quadrangular football tournament at the Linden Technical Institute on Saturday, through a project that aims to use sports to deter youth from crime.
The tournament will pit teams Kayo’s Football Academy, Eagles United FC, TOPXX FC and Netrockers FC in a friendly match starting at 9am.
At the end of the tourney the teams will be presented with football equipment from Canada.
Couchman, who is also a Lindener, says this is the second time that a match has been launched through the project. It premiered in Mexico last year.
According to Couchman, several overseas entities made donations to the project. He also said the match will be streamed live to a global audience which could be a boon to the town and the country.
Further, he told this newspaper that footage from this tournament and the one held in Mexico will be edited as part of a proposal to FIFA and the United Nations to partner with it.
