Cricket fans in West Berbice are in for a treat as Goodwill Promotions and the West Berbice Cricket Association will team up to bowl off the inaugural Floodlight 10/10 Hardball Cricket Festival in the region.
According to a press release, the organisers of this 10\10 Cricket Festival expect to see all of the cricket clubs in West Berbice vying for bragging rights as the ‘Best 10\10 Cricket Club’ and will feature young and old talents in the game.
There will be no debarring of players because this festival is for all categories or age groups of players in each club, whether first division or second division. The promoter maintained that the festival will give the young upcoming cricketers a chance to showcase their talents as they will take on some experienced cricketers. There will be over $150,000 in cash incentives and trophies at stake.
According to the press release the festival will also assist in getting more West Berbice youths involved in cricket. It will also feature some of West Berbice’s young cricketing stars. The event is set for November 25 in West Berbice, and according to the organisers the venue will be made public on a later date. The semis and final will be played under floodlights and patrons can expect a fun-filled day as there will be lots of side attractions and plenty of giveaways during the festival.
The organisers will be meeting the executives of the various clubs shortly, so as to have things in place. The festival will be under the guidelines of the association. Clubs in West Berbice are asked to make contact with the West Berbice Cricket Association or Goodwill Promotions on telephone number 684-3293 as early as possible.
