Two teenagers died in an accident on the Providence, East Bank Demerara road on Thursday night, after the car they were travelling in crashed into the concrete median.
Two other persons, who were in the vehicle, were also injured in the accident, which occurred around 11:40, police said yesterday.
Dead are Kerwin Andrews, 16, of Brutus Street, Agricola, who was pronounced dead on arrival at the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH) and Christopher Chung, 19, of Cato Street, Agricola, who succumbed to his injuries around 03:30am yesterday morning, the police said in a press release.
The injured are Stephen Fraser, 19, of Cato Street, and 18-year-old Matilda Gittens of Mocha, East Bank Demerara, who are now patients at the GPH.
The car, PHH 7934, that was proceeding north along the western carriageway, was being driven by Chung at the time of the accident. Police said investigations have revealed that the car was proceeding at a fast rate, when Chung lost control and crashed into the concrete median on the road.
The driver and the other passengers were then taken to the GPH, where Andrews was pronounced dead.
