The New Building Society (NBS) Limited Hall of Residence on the grounds of the University of Guyana, Turkeyen has undergone major rehabilitation to the tune of some $5 million.
According to a press release from NBS, the rehabilitation included repairs and painting of the roof as well as the interior and exterior of the entire building.
The release noted that the Hall of Residence was constructed in recognition of the need for cost-effective, on-campus housing for students from far-flung areas, particularly in the hinterland, who would have gained acceptance to UG. The building was handed over to UG in 1994 and this is the third time since then that it has been rehabilitated.
The rehabilitation was completed before the beginning of the current semester, NBS said.
