Come December 1, seven beauties between the ages of 17 and 24 will take to the stage to vie for the title and crown of Miss East Coast 2012.
Cool Crew Promotion, which is hosting the pageant, already has the seven contestants representing the villages of Beterverwagting (BV), Victoria, Nabaclis, Better Hope, Buxton, Golden Grove and Paradise undergoing training under the capable hands of former Miss Guyana Universe Meleesa Payne.
Come November 25, Miss BV, Sheamma Hoppy; Miss Victoria, Tomika Terrence, Miss Nabaclis Neshana Bastiany; Miss Better Hope, Melissa Calendar; Miss Buxton Ekcie Edwards; Miss Golden Grove, Fiola Sandy and Miss Paradise Kimesha Telford will compete in the Swimsuit and Casual Wear segments at the Victoria ground.
On pageant night, December 1, the contestants will present their talent pieces as well as compete in the Business Wear, Evening Gown and Question and Answer segments.
According to Cool Crew Promotion, apart from seeking to have the contestants share common values and foster inter-village friendship and understanding, the pageant has a tourism focus. Its main objective is to identify and showcase the villages’ best ambassadors; “those who have the skills, talents and personalities best suited to promote their respective villages in furtherance of tourism, goodwill and cultural harmony”.
It also seeks to develop and promote the tourism and historical infrastructure on the ECD and strengthen cultural ties among communities.
The promotion team said the pageant’s foremost objective is to educate each contestant about what the ECD has to offer so that they will return to their villages as ambassadors of tourism.
As part of the pageant preparation, therefore, the seven contestants will have the opportunity to visit historical and landmark sites along the ECD.
The pageant, the promoter said, will see live performances by local artistes.
Cool Crew Promotion, which was founded in and operates out of Victoria Village, has as its principals Lynton Luke and Kempe Barry.
