The East Coast Pandits and Mandir Leaders are urging devotees to focus on the deeper meaning of Deepavali, even as they join millions of Hindus across the globe in lighting diyas and other symbolic lights to usher in the occasion.
In a press release, the group said the festival is observed on Amawasya in the Month of Kartik as on this occasion nature exhibits the darkest of all nights creating an opportunity for devotees to transform negatives into positives and darkness into light. Maataa Laxhmi will be worshiped and venerated with great love and devotion. “The enduring nature of the festival has the capacity to escort man through the tunnel of ignorance to the passage of wisdom and light,” it added.
