The One Laptop per Family (OLPF) Secretariat on Friday distributed computers to the 28 teachers attached to the David Rose School for the Handicapped at Thomas Lands.
Students who suffer from hearing impairments have already received their laptops, Senior Mistress Osila Harte said, and those who are intellectually impaired will soon receive theirs, a press report from the Government Information Agency (GINA) said. The teachers expressed their appreciation to government for the computer systems, explaining that it will open a new world to the students.
GINA said the OLPF initiative started by former President Bharrat Jagdeo targets 90,000 families. To date more than 15,000 computers have been distributed countrywide.
