Dear Editor,
Last Saturday at the UG’s Convocation exercise a young lady, Ms Kumarie Kooseram, received the award for the best Graduating Student in the UG Medical School.
This young lady lost her father (a police officer) to the crime spree that Guyana experienced after the 2002 jailbreak. Her circumstances were trying and her objectives seemed impossible at times. But she persevered and succeeded. She placed second in the country at the CSEC exams in 2005 and was the country’s top student at the GCE Advanced Level in 2007.
I think her story is a very good source of encouragement for young people, especially hardworking children, who sometimes get discouraged by their circumstances.
I urge you to reach out to Ms. Kooseram, allow her story some coverage as a form of inspiration to all.
Yours faithfully,
Natasha Samlall
