When the owners of motor car PMM 2649, Heather and William Denny sent their car to the wash bay in Mackenzie yesterday morning they had no idea of the fate that awaited it.
Shortly after 10:00hrs the family was informed that their car was bottom up in a drain opposite the wash bay.
According to the explanation given by eyewitnesses, a man who had taken the car to be cleaned on behalf of the Dennys had asked one of the workers to “slightly” move the car forward.
“Like deh man feel suh nice to getting a piece a drive he drop he foot hard on the (accelerator)“, said the eyewitness. He further explained that the car turned turtle after hitting a post and landed in a concrete drain on the opposite side of the road.
“Everybody seh he dead” related another eyewitness. Much to their surprise the driver escaped with minor bruises and after standing in the drain approximately 15 feet down, he climbed to safety and walked to the Mackenzie Police Station which was close by. The unfortunate driver is said to be unlicensed.
