The life of the late Indranie Lennartson Shaw (December 7, 1961 – October 25, 2012) will be celebrated by family, friends, fans, and all who wish to pay tribute to the renowned Kathak dancer at the National Cultural Centre this Tuesday, November 20, at 1pm, a release from her sister Sita Shah Roath said today.
Shaw will be honoured with tributes from several dance groups who have made pledges. These include performances from those who have been a part of the performing and choreographic team for Nrityageet having interaction with Indranie over the years – Linda Griffith, Vivian Daniel, Clive Prowell, Kenrick Cheeks, and students of the Nadira and Indranie Shah Dance Troupe, the release said. This will be a 45 minutes programme where significant moments of Indranie’s funeral that took place in Sweden on November 16, will be shown in a multimedia format for those who were unable to attend.
As a student, Indranie, was active in the cultural life of St. Roses. She was a former student of Shri Pratap Pawar at the Indian Cultural Centre in Guyana, dancing at the age of 11 along with several students of St. Roses High School including her friend Jundita Kant and sister Nadira. Her first performance was at the Deepavali Jalsa in 1975 at St. Roses auditorium, the release added.
