It is alleged that on November 14, in Georgetown, Peters, 31, of Lot 31 Pouderoyen, West Bank Demerara, stole a BlackBerry Bold smartphone and a handbag, valued at $74,000 in total and the property of Katherine Persaud.

It was also alleged that on the same date, Peters stole $920,000 in cash, which was the property of Rajindra Persaud.

No further details of what transpired on the date in question were provided to the court.

Peters was not required to plead to the indictable charges, while the prosecution objected to bail, citing the seriousness of the offence and the fear that the accused would attempt to flee, in light of the fact that he provided police with a different address.

Magistrate Daly subsequently remanded Peters until November 29, when the case will be called in Court One for reports and fixtures.
