If Kishon Simon is to be believed, his upcoming bout against Patrick Boston will have a different result than their initial encounter.
“I will be wasting no time with Boston in the ring this time, says the 22-two-year old Kishon Simon. Simon was referring to his upcoming rematch against Boston. The catch weight fight on the Guyana Boxing Board of Control Fight Night Pro Am Card is scheduled for November 30 at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.
The two met on July 27 this year when Simon made his debut as a professional fighter. “I got robbed in my first fight, but that will not happen this time. I am mad at myself for not closing him off earlier in the match, but I will not waste any time with him in the ring this time,” he said.
Simon said he is being trained by former European champion Howard Eastman. He started working with Eastman as an amateur in his early years, but he said he made a switch to Orlan ‘Pocket Rocket’ Rogers. That relationship he said did not last because the two could not get along. “I was not relaxed, but now that I am back with Howard I am more relaxed and feel better as a fighter.”
The two Simon said are working on a number of areas including conditioning, endurance, pad and bag work and overall fitness.
Simon said during his year as an amateur fighter, he has had some 13 fights with five loses. Something he hopes to better in his career as a professional fighter.
He said that making the transition to professional boxing was not difficult for him, since that is what he wanted to do since he started his career as a professional. His goal, he goal, he said is to become a world champion but said he must first build his career first. After his fight against Boston, Simon said he hopes that he is given the opportunity at another fight in December.
