The Promenade Gardens will come alive next Sunday when the Majek Fingers Drumming School holds its second annual Drumming and Dance Festival and there are promises that this would be a worthwhile family affair.
According to Master Drummer and the brains behind the drumming school, Orlando Primo, acts such as the Buxton Fusion School of Music, X Factor Dancers, Classique Dancers, National School of Dance and Dave Tassa Group will be in attendance.
Gates will open at 2 pm and the show begins at 4 pm.
Primo, who has years of drumming experience under his belt, in an interview with The Scene recently said he decided to create a drumming school that would “allow students of all ages from any part of the country to have firsthand experience playing the African drums”.
He said his school takes pride in the fact that it has expertise in teaching the art form (which to some has almost been forgotten) in such a way that it is exciting.
Primo noted that playing drums can be great fun for all ages and it could also be used as a tool to develop confidence and self esteem in youths.
Each of the teachers at the school has a background in drumming and a minimum of five years teaching and playing experience.
