(Video) Indranie Lennartson Shaw remembered in dance

The life of the late renowned Kathak dancer Indranie Lennartson Shaw (December 7, 1961 – October 25, 2012) was celebrated in dance at the National Cultural Centre on Tuesday.

Shaw, one half of the Indranie and Nadira troupe which put on the show, Nrityageet for 33 years in a row, was honoured with tributes from several dance groups. There was also a slideshow of major events in her life and tributes including one from businessman Yesu Persaud.

Indranie’s funeral took place in Sweden on November 16.
As a student, Indranie, was active in the cultural life of St. Roses. She was a former student of Shri Pratap Pawar at the Indian Cultural Centre in Guyana, dancing at the age of 11 along with several students of St. Roses High School including her friend Jundita Kant and sister Nadira. Her first performance was at the Deepavali Jalsa in 1975 at St. Roses auditorium.
