A $57M contract awarded for the supply and delivery of 60 heifers for the National Agriculture Research and Extension Institute (NAREI) was among those that received Cabinet’s no-objection, according to Dr Roger Luncheon.
Luncheon, Cabinet Secretary, made the announcement on Wednesday at his post-Cabinet press briefing at Office of the President, the Government Information Agency (GINA) reported.
According to GINA, Luncheon said the contract for the heifers was valued at US$281,104 (equivalent to GYD$57,332,631.28).
GINA also reported Luncheon as saying that no-objections were offered for contracts awarded under a tender for the rehabilitation and construction of 2012 community roads in the city in Region Four, which was divided into two lots, valued at $31.38M and $42.61M, respectively.
Contracts under a tender for the rehabilitation and maintenance of roads in Region One, North West District also received no-objections. The project, divided into two lots, covers the roadway from Wanaina Bridge to Yarakita Landing, which is valued at $15.5M and for the Barabina Swamp Road, which is valued $17.97M.
In the maritime sector, a $74.85M contract awarded for the docking and repair of the Hopper Dredge Barge and one valued $152.90M for the acquisition and supply of spares for dredging equipment received Cabinet’s no-objection.
In addition, in the education sector a contract valued $50.19M for the construction of a special needs building in the Ptolemy Reid Rehabilitation Centre was also cleared.
