Terry Ramcharran, an Alexander Village mason, was yesterday accused of stealing almost $300,000 in electronics after allegedly breaking and entering a woman’s house.
Ramcharran, 39, of Lot 18 First Street, Alexander Village, denied the charge when he was brought before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court, where he was released on $125,000 bail.
It is alleged that on November 19, in Georgetown, Ramcharran broke and entered the dwelling of Shirley Khan and stole a complete computer unit, a PSP game console and a transformer, valued in total at $294,000.
Prosecutor Kerry Bostwick said that Khan secured her house on the morning of the break-in and proceeded to complete some errands.
Upon her return home, Khan discovered her door opened and the house ransacked as if someone had searched for something. Further checks were made and she contacted the police to report the break and enter into her home, Bostwick added.
Acting upon information, Bostwick said that the ranks contacted Ramcharran and he was subsequently arrested.
Bail was granted without objection and the case was adjourned until December 14 for the filing of statements.
