Mayor Green’s 78th Birth Anniversary inter-ward knockout competition continues tonight with eight matches at the GFC Ground, Bourda.
The first match pits Pouderoyen against Goed Fortuin, Stewartville engaging Sara Lodge, Uitvlugt tackling Eve Leary, Den Amstel playing Kuru Kururu, Tucville playing Alberttown, West Ruimveldt Estate taking on Grove, Tiger Bay and Newtown Kitty followed by Sophia and Kingston.
Kick off time is 7 PM. The winners of these matches will advance to the quarterfinals scheduled for next Friday at the Den Amstel Ground, West Bank Demerara.
Meanwhile, in Wednesday night’s matches Eve Leary, Tiger Bay, Kingston, Sophia and West Ruimveldt Estate registered victories. Eve Leary and Kingston defeated West Corder and West Ruimveldt on penalty. Tiger Bay with two goals from Deon Alfred defeated Bagotville, Sophia defeated Werk-en-Rust by a 2-0 margin with goals from Gregory ‘Jackie Chan’ Richardson and Shemroy Arthur while Rolston Morrison and Michael Pedro with two goals defeated Kitty.
The competition is now down to the last sixteen teams from a total of thirty two teams.
