The family of Enmore North fisherman Lakeram ‘Narro’ Parsram, who was found dumped in a drain almost a week ago, is upset with the police after being told that they were the reason that the post-mortem report on his death was incomplete.
Parsram, 29, of Sheriga, Enmore North, East Coast Demerara, was found on November 21, fitted in a drain aback of a mechanic shop, a short distance away from his home. There was a laceration to his head. However, his family was unable to acquire the results of an autopsy performed on his body yesterday as government pathologist Dr Nehaul Singh said that the police had not provided him with the necessary information he needed to complete his report.
Stabroek News yesterday spoke with the dead man’s mother, Chandrwattie Singh, who explained that the police did supply not the doctor with information about when the body was found and where, along with other details. She said she was not told of the cause of death nor has she seen the incomplete report although the autopsy was indeed conducted yesterday morning.
The distraught woman stated that she was asked to report to the CID Headquarters at 8 am today to provide further statements, which would assist the doctor in completing his report.
Rookmini Parsram, the dead man’s sister, highlighted the negligence of the police and emphasised her disgruntlement at what it has caused.
Singh further told this newspaper that the family had anticipated receiving the results yesterday and as a result had made preparations for Parsram’s funeral on Wednesday. However, she said, with this new development she was uncertain when the funeral would be held.
