An Eccles, East Bank, Demerara, resident was shot in his left jaw by a known man as he was sitting outside a business place at Pigeon Place, South Ruimveldt Park, on Saturday night.
Thirty-five-year-old Rolly Smith of BB Eccles was shot by a gunman around 9:30 pm as he was chatting with friends.
Persons, who witnessed the incident, said Smith was chatting with friends when a man, he had an altercation with previously, drove up. The man exited his vehicle with a gun, shot Smith at close range and drove away.
The police stated in a press release that Smith was in the store having a conversation with the proprietor when the suspect exited a car with a gun in his hand. The suspect then attacked and shot Smith to his left side face.
Smith was then rushed to the Balwant Singh Hospital where he underwent surgery. He was discharged from the hospital yesterday.
The police are conducting further investigations into the matter.
