Two friends of Shaquille Grant testified yesterday as the Preliminary Inquiry (PI) into the murder charge against Terrence Wallace, one of the three policemen accused of his murder, continued.
Romel Bollers and Troy Greenidge, both friends of Grant, took the stand yesterday at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry, who is presiding over the PI.
Also testifying yesterday were Detective Superintendant of Police Hugh Jessamy and Police Corporal Eon Isaacs.
Police Constable Terrence Wallace, Lance Corporal Warren Blue and Special Constable Jamal Lewis are all charged with the fatal shooting of Grant on September 11, 2012, during a police operation in Agricola.
Wallace, however, is the only policeman before the court as the others are believed to have fled the country. Arrests warrants have been issued for them, while the police force has also said it has sought the help of international organisation to find the two men.
Meanwhile, Grant’s mother, Shonnette Adams, walked out of the courtroom yesterday during the hearing and told officers who tried to calm her down outside of the court house that she would not return to court. “As god above me, me ain’t coming back to this court. I need justice fah me child. I gon get justice if is the last thing I do.” Adams said.
“I going in the alleyway and pray to god. Me bible in me bag. I need justice. Father, weh yah deh?” she shouted.
The inquiry will continue today.
