A man, who allegedly assaulted and used threatening language to a police officer, was yesterday granted bail in the sum of $30,000 when he appeared before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry at the Georgetown Magistrates Court.
Marvin Fraser of Lot 57 Robb Street, Lacytown pleaded not guilty to unlawful assault and the use of threatening language when the charges were read to him.
It is alleged that on November 22, Fraser unlawfully assaulted Constable William Jefferies and later the same day Fraser allegedly used threatening language to Constable Jefferies.
The prosecution objected to bail on the grounds that Fraser did not give his address. However, when asked by the magistrate, Fraser gave his address and she then set bail at $30,000.
The matter will continue on December 5 in court 10.
