A man accused of unlawful assault and threatening language was yesterday admitted to bail in the sums of $25,000 and $20,000 respectively when he appeared before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry.
Police Prosecutor Kerry Bostwick said that on November 25, Ameer Khan and his neighbour Akeem Joseph got into an argument.
During the course of the row, the court was told, Khan pelted Joseph with a glass bottle to his left eye and later made use of threatening language.
When asked to speak, Khan told the court, “He parent come by me house and cuss me. He come later and assault me, ya honour.”
Magistrate Sewnarine-Beharry asked if he had reported the incident, to which he responded, “no”.
The prosecution objected to bail on the ground that the neighbours might have future arguments. Joseph later asked for a protection order.
Khan was subsequently placed on a bond to keep the peace. The matter will continue on December 5 in court 10.
