A Bourda Market stallholder was yesterday released on $200,000 bail after he denied breaking into a pharmacy when he appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.
Jason Adams, 21, of Lot 58 Lime Street, Werk-en-Rust, is alleged to have broken and entered the premises of Chunny Lall, and to have stolen a quantity of phone cards and cash, totalling $425,000 in value, which was the property of Lall.
Adams denied the charge.
Prosecutor Seon Blackman policemen on patrol received information and proceeded to the First Relief Pharmacy in D’Urban Street and discovered the shutter opened and a number of articles missing from the business.
Blackman said that the officers then saw Adams and conducted a search and discovered some of the stolen articles.
He further said that Adams was then arrested and charged.
Blackman had no objections to bail, but asked that Adams report to the police every Friday at 8am.
Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry granted the prosecution’s request and set bail $200,000, before adjourning the case to January 11, 2013, for reports and fixtures.
