There is more confusion as to which schools are participating in the Under 13 Kashif and Shanghai football tournament.
This newspaper was contacted by an official of St Margaret’s Primary who said that the school did not receive an invitation nor did it get permission from the Education Ministry to participate in the tournament.
According to the official the school was confronted by someone claiming to be a representative of the organization who stated that the school was a part of the tournament.
This, the official said, came as a shock but the school has no intention of allowing its children to be “caught up in any politics” involving football in Guyana.
The school just concluded its participation in an Education Ministry- sanctioned tournament which saw the children having fun and healthy rivalry among school teams.
St Margaret’s is the second school to publicly state that they will not be participating in the tournament.
