The Ministry of Natural Resources and the Environment ‘Operations Safe Parks’ initiative was recently boosted with the donation of two golf carts from the G-Star Mining and Exploration Company, which will be used to make security checks.
A Government Information Agency (GINA) press release said Minister Robert Persaud received the carts from G-Star Managing Director Azeem Baksh, at the National Park. “This venture is the type of service that is required from the wider public.
You cannot only complain about the negative things around us, but what will make a difference is if we join hands and work together,” he said.
Persaud also noted that in order to reverse the level of deterioration of public facilities, persons can join with the ministry to help beautify the city.
Further, he said, these efforts can be augmented by support from corporate Guyana which can help to ensure dilapidated facilities are rehabilitated and new structures are not vandalised.
“When we invest, it is for the use and convenience of all, and as such, it is not to be violated and vandalised by persons who feel government should not be doing such work,” he said.
In his remarks, Baksh said, “Security in and around these facilities is crucial and as such, these vehicles are essential… the company is pleased to be associated with the development and beautification of Guyana.”
