The Guyana Power and Light (GPL) is deploying four new feeders on the West Coast of Demerara which will improve electricity supply but there will be a number of outages to facilitate work.
GPL yesterday said that as a result of feeder work being done under the Infrastructure Development Project, residents between Versailles and Look Out will experience power outages. The first of these occurred on Sunday and GPL said it will notify residents in advance of these power cuts which should not exceed four in number. The West Bank of Demerara will experience one outage.
GPL said that the outages are necessary to sectionalize the West Coast circuit for the deployment of the new feeders, relocate voltage regulators and capacitor banks and rejig the taps on distribution transformers.
When the four feeders are installed they will serve the following areas:
Vreed-en-Hoop substation
Feeder 1 – Part of Vreed-en-Hoop to part of Windsor Forest
Feeder 2 – Part of Vreed-en-Hoop to part of La Grange
GPL pointed out that consumers from part of La Grange to Vriesland will draw power from Garden of Eden.
Edinburgh substation
Feeder 1 – Part of Edinburgh to part of Windsor Forest
Feeder 2 – Part of Edinburgh to East Bank Essequibo.
