A Campbellville Housing Scheme woman was hammered in her head by her drunken, reputed husband after an argument at her home yesterday afternoon.
Injured is 41-year-old mother of seven, Luela Linton, who is now a patient of the Georgetown Hospital after she sustained injuries to her head. She was lashed to her head with a hammer by her common law husband, ‘Anthony’ who is now on the run.
Linton was the victim of abuse in the relationship she shared with Anthony. They were together for a number of years but Linton wanted to end the relationship. Her mother recalled that moments before the incident yesterday Luela was telling her “mommy I don’t want him.” They have no children together.
Her mother said that Anthony had told her daughter that he would kill her but she is uncertain as to whether any report was ever made to the police about the abuse or threat.
The visibly sad woman told this newspaper that she was downstairs while Luela and Anthony, who was consuming alcohol, were upstairs arguing.
She added that Luela and Anthony then came downstairs and it was then that he picked up a hammer and lashed her to the head.
She said “after he lash her he came back inside and then he went out and he drive away… I don’t know what get into he head.”
The mother said that she began to scream when the incident occurred and persons who rushed to the scene managed to take Linton to the hospital.
