A day after he was released from prison, Vikram Sookdeo was yesterday jailed for stealing from a former co-worker.
Sookdeo, 29, pleaded guilty to a simple larceny charge that was read to him by Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.
He was sentenced to six months imprisonment.
The prosecution said that on December 3, Sookdeo walked up to an employee of his former workplace and relieved her of $6,000.
“Yesterday I come out of prison and find out about ma sister dead. So, I ask people to help me but nobody ain’t want to help me,” Sookdeo said.
Magistrate Sewnarine-Beharry asked Sookdeo why he did not asked his former employer for help. Sookdeo said, “dey even turn me down.”
