Bronze medallist at this year’s Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Bodybuilding Championships and reigning overall and welterweight champion of this year’s Hugh Ross Classic, Kerwin Clarke, intends to pose and flex his way to supremacy at tomorrow’s Flex Night International.
The Buddy’s Gym product will also be part of the army of bodybuilders vying for individual trophies and the Gym trophy along with 2011 Natural Mr. America and former national sprinter, Rawle Greene, four-time CAC gold medalist, Sylvan Gardner, Shawn Henry, Ronair Caesar and others.
Clarke, the 24-year-old muscleman who possesses rippling abdominals, well defined quadriceps and sculpted arms said that he is currently doing some fine-tuning on his two-month training programme and is ready to make Guyana proud in the tri-nation inaugural event which will be staged at the National Culture Centre.
“Training for me was ok even though I had some hiccups” said Clarke yesterday during an interview with Stabroek Sport.” I successfully completed my two-month programme. I’m just focused right now on my diet and getting some fine tuning in and I am very confident, me and my Buddy’s Gym mates are very confident of going out there and representing Guyana we are focused on putting on a solid show against the Brazilians and the Surinamese”. Clarke added that “we intend to put on a good show and give the patrons their monies worth”. The tri-nation competition, dubbed ‘Raising the Bar’ is expected to attract the crème de la crème of Guyana’s, Suriname’s and Brazil’s bodybuilders. The bodybuilders from the three nations will be vying for the top spot in four categories – Mr. Flex Night, Miss Flex Night, Miss Bikini and Miss Best Legs. There will also be a Best Country award.
Tickets cost $800, $1000 and $1500.
