The Mayor and City Council (M&CC) will be conducting a “massive clean-up exercise” in Georgetown next Monday, City Hall announced yesterday.
A stakeholders meeting was held at City Hall yesterday, where the council sought the cooperation of businesses and citizens for the activity, M&CC Public Relations Officer Royston King said in a statement.
The exercise would begin in the vicinity of Stabroek Market Square, where volunteers are asked to assemble at 9am. “The council is appealing to all businesses, religious organisations, community development groups and citizens, to cooperate with this action to clean up the capital and to make it a healthy place,” the statement said.
King noted that yesterday’s meeting saw a number of representatives from different organisations that shared suggestions on how the campaign can move forward to achieve its objections.
He also disclosed that an operations room has been set up in his office to take questions about the campaign. The office can be contacted at 225-2218.
