Chairman of the Interim Management Committee for cricket, Clive Lloyd has rejected a report in yesterday’s edition of Stabroek News that members of the body are planning to resign.
Lloyd via telephone from Fort Lauderdale, Florida told Stabroek Sport that neither he nor fellow IMC members had resigned or were planning to do so. According to Lloyd he will be back in Guyana on Monday.
However, sources close to the IMC who spoke to this publication said IMC members were contemplating resignation as they had felt abandoned by the government. The IMC had been installed by the government to take the place of the GCB until a new board could be constituted. The sentiments of frustration had been expressed after the IMC’s rival, the Guyana Cricket Board named a team this week for the Caribbean T20 tourney without the government saying anything about it. The government has belatedly responded.
