A man was yesterday ordered to do six months community service after he pleaded guilty to possession of cannabis, which he claimed he uses to treat his asthma.
Winston Perreira, who appeared before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court, was also fined $3,000 for the offence.
Perreira, the court was told, was found with two grammes of cannabis.
He said he boils it for use to treat his illness and insisted that he does not smoke it.
