Family members of Kamall Ramsahoye say the 38-year-old Annandale businessman was stabbed seven times in his back and three times in his abdomen.
Speaking to Stabroek News yesterday, Kamall’s mother Dewantie Ramsahoye related that though there had been no developments in her son’s case, she had been told by officers that her son had been stabbed 10 times.
Kamall was found dead at his residence on the morning of Sunday December 9, with what appeared to be multiple stab wounds about his body. A post-mortem examination (PME) later concluded that the man died from haemorrhaging and shock due to massive blood loss.
Family members had expressed bewilderment that Ramsahoye could have been murdered inside his home by intruders, since his house was a virtual fortress. The entire residence is enclosed by a concrete fence which stands over 8 feet tall. The only portals of entry to the yard are two metal gates whose height match that of the wall and are accompanied by pointed fixtures at the top. In addition to these external defences, each window and door of the house was securely grilled.
These facts lent to suspicions that Ramsahoye may have known, and even invited his killer into his premises.
However, when asked if she or any member of her family had any idea who could have committed the act, Dewantie stated that they were at a complete loss as it relates to suspects. This seems true of police officers as well since they too are yet to detain or name anyone as a suspect.
Dewantie lamented her son’s passing, and stated that she had not yet accepted his death. She said the entire ordeal has taken a toll on her, to the point where her doctor has ordered that she make almost daily trips to the hospital so he can monitor her condition. “I still in shock,” said the woman.
She recalled that every morning Ramsahoye would wake up early to bathe, do his chores and pray before visiting her to check her pressure and blood sugar levels.
Kamall Ramsahoye is to be cremated tomorrow at Good Hope, in keeping with Hindu customs.
