A Brazilian national was yesterday fined $30,000 for entering Guyana illegally.
Magistrate Leron Daly imposed the fine on Peron Dameer De Jesus with an alternative of six months imprisonment, after he pleaded guilty to the offence at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.
Facts from the prosecution stated that on December 8, at Charity in the Essequibo district, De Jesus entered Guyana by sea and disembarked without the permission of an immigration official.
